I don't know how to translate the text written on the painting because there are deliberate spelling mistakes. The beginning of the text literally says: "Kiss to my rabbit". So we could possibly transform the rest of the text into " Kiss to mttrt ramrit Krsts rttr mtttr morrit ".
Which doesn't make sense.

I painted in 2016 and then I did not show these paintings on the blog.

Painting and this blog were important to me, but life changed.

This painting refers to another mermaid that we see here.

It measures 60.5 cm wide and 45.5 cm high.

I started it at the end of 2014 or at the beginning of 2015 and then I did not finish it. She does not like me so much. This is probably due to her sulky look.

For reasons of economy, I bought two tiny canvases. It was the opportunity to paint a tiny bird.

It 's a work in progress.
After eight weeks or more and when the painting is dry, it will be possible (finally!) to give it an old look (the signing will get an old look too, so the painting is signed before it is finalised).

These are images of the last Sunday. It was still very cold (this is natural in winter) and rainy today, but it seems that we will have a spring this year.

Hello and Happy new year!
Without much expectations, I'm giving a try at modern art.
I'wont be gifting the painting to anyone, since the way eggs, medium and oil have been cooked. If it fails, so be it, I'll would have learned something out of it (that is if that happens in our lifespan).
I'm dying to see if it could work.
Moreover, the canvas is creased. The painting wasn't much taken care of since it was meant to be dumped in the first place. But it was good enought for the sake of experimenting.

Thanks to the experiment, when the paint is dry, the undercoat paint (it does not look like the layer in the picture) would partially appear.
But there is little chance of this experiment works in practice because an incident has occurred _ Now, it is pretty much done for.
An air stream pushed it. It had fallen on the work-bench where it was placed, therefore part of the painting was removed and dirt were embedded in it.
Before then, it was planned one day to see the undercoat paint but now it's likely that this painting will fade away before this day because to strip oil paint off, can cause great damage (I learned it the hard way in 2003).
There are many paintings (about twenty) in this house and these paintings end badly because of the lack of place where to put them. It would be better to hang them on the wall or to find a room for them so the paintings would not be damaged in any way.The thing is, I have not means to pay for a workshop and, in this apartment, we can not drive full of nails in the walls.

If someone has an idea, it would be welcomed and I would be very grateful.

Hello!
This is oil paint on a small canvas (40cm / 50cm).
As can be see in the pictures *, recently I've changed my style i.e. I stop imitating photography. I also change the technique by painting in two sessions only and I try to accept that a mistake is not the end of the World. In this way, we do not touch up hundred times.
The subject of the painting seems .. How to say? ... More alive (despite the ugliness and the defects because of the mistakes).

The results of this method are mixed: it 's okay to not imitate photography because the subject is more present in the room. But this method is frustrating because the practice becomes too easy. Without this difficulty, I lost the love of painting.
In addition, two sessions are insufficient because it is impossible to accept a mistake so it is necessary to be patient and to work hard many days. I think this is the better way, for me at least.

This fall, I had the chance to visit paint studios as well as art expositions. I'd like to share these moments with some photos. ^^

Visiting the "Château d' Avignon".

The château d'Avignon is a castle from the late nineteenth century. Today, it is used to exhibit art works.

An interesting fact, there is often restriction in museum and expositions and you cant take pictures of everything. For example, it is forbidden to take photos inside the "Chateau d'Avignon" (but it does not matter, it's just to explain why I cant show you the inside).

In this castle, tapestries and antique have been preserved ever since. I enjoyed it because of the darkness inside the building creating some kind of special atmosphere. The Castle does not quite look like the one from "The Adams Family", although it seems sometimes that ghosts and monsters are about to walk the bedrooms. Leaving the castle and after crossing the garden, you discover a building with lovely old machines. The Château d' Avignon is located at : Arles' Road, 13460 Saintes-Maries- de-la -Mer France. You can find information on www.chateaudavignon.fr . If you intend to visit this place, I advice that you go there after lunch, or bring some food, it is quite isolated.

Last year I did a portrait (Which you will not find on the blog) after I read on the net that you could paint faster without having to wait between every coat of paint.
I was naive and I believed it! So I rushed it.
However, after a few months, this painting disaggregated. So I went back to the usual technique.
1 – I started by some freehand drawing on variously sized sheets (Otherwise, the technique with a grid works well too.) . The first drawings were full of cross-outs, and because of that, the sheets were very dirty. (Note that I like large fabric pencils and red chalk.) Then, empty sheets were piled up to make one of the same size as the canvas. On this large sheet, I drew the subject again. After I obtained the desired drawing, I transferred it and adjusted it a bit more. Finally, in order to make it clean, and ensure there's no cross-out visible, I traced it to the canvas.

2 – The first coat of paint is extremely diluted. It is made from paint mixed up with only turpentine. You can have a glimpse of what it looks like on the second image (I usually do not take a picture of the first layer for it is very ugly looking.) In order to abide by the rule of thick over thin, You also have to wait before you can get back to your work: The layers must have dried beforehand, and they have to be thinner than the new ones. Thus, for this painting, I did the first layer late at night, went to sleep, and painted the second coat late at night.

3 – The second coat of paint was made of: A two thirds of boiled linseed oil (You use boiled oil for faster drying) and slightly more than one third of turpentine. Then, I wetted the paintbrush every time in between strokes with that mix of linseed oil and turpentine (Don't forget to stir beforehand because the mix tends to decant.)

4 _ The waiting time for the last coat lasted more than one month (It may vary depending on the products you use.). From there on, I used a different oil that dries slightly faster than the other one. (I sometimes used the slow oil from start to finish.)
As usual, you needed more oil before you could start to paint for 6 hours during a whole afternoon up until the evening. This way, you can see the subject of the paint change a lot over time if you take many pictures of it in one day.
To sum up, in oil painting you add a little bit more of oil with every coat of paint, and the waiting time increases with the amount of oil.

Also, my teacher told me to wait around two or three years because varnishing. She even said not to do it at all, and have it done by a skilled technician.
It is noteworthy to mention that paint dries faster with the sun in summer. (Or at least that was always the case with my work.)

NB: From the second or the third layer, I also use a ready-made medium sold in shops. I just pour a few drips on the paintbrush after wetting it with the mix turpentine/oil.

Bonjour !

Photographier cette peinture fut un peu compliqué car sur la photo, la couleur de la peau du personnage ne ressemble pas tout à fait à celle perçue par un œil humain.

De ce fait, j'ai essayé plusieurs types d'éclairage. J'ai même déplacé des meubles pour obtenir plus ou moins de lumière sur la table.

Cette toile est petite, elle mesure environ 38 cm de largeur et 47 cm de hauteur.

C'est un champignon cousu dans un vieux drap.

Les taches blanches ont été peintes par la suite.

Il s’agissait de faire une déco genre Halloween.

La toile d’araignée est faite avec une pelote de laine et l'insecte est en papier.

Salut vous !
C’était mon coquetier quand j’étais toute petite.
Ma mère disait que cet objet me ressemblait, de ce fait, j'ai pensé qu'il pouvait servir de modèle pour un autoportrait.

La taille de la toile est 46 cm x 55 cm.

Voici la seconde couche en train de se faire.

Nous pouvons observer des différences avec la couche finale comme, par exemple, la trace blanche sur l’œuf ajoutée à la fin pour donner l'impression que la lumière se reflète sur la coquille.

Il y a eu très peu de dessins préparatoires.
Au final, le coquetier a été dessiné d’après nature à main levée (c'est un objet facile à dessiner de toute façon) puis, une fois le dessin fini sur papier, je l'ai décalqué sur la toile (c'est plus propre quand je procède ainsi).

P-S: L'huile de lin (à voir sur la photo précédente) avait une sale tête donc cette huile n'a pas pu servir pour la peinture et, bien évidemment, il a fallu en racheter.

Coucou !
Nous pouvons constater grâce à l'image, qu'il s'agit d'une petite toile (46 cm / 38 cm) et que la première couche a dégouliné sur la tranche (oui en effet c'est lamentable).

Il n’était pas prévu de montrer cette peinture sur le blog tellement elle est mal faite (j'avais la tête ailleurs) mais il me semble qu'il est inutile de cacher ses erreurs.

Il fut très appréciable de réaliser ce travail car le petit couple est charmant.

P-S: Pour ceux qui ont compris à quoi la peinture fait référence, sachez que j'ai pour habitude de regarder un paquet de classiques cependant je n’ai toujours pas vu "Les parapluies de Cherbourg".
